Install Mobile Apps Not Available in Your Country

Introduction

At times, you may encounter useful mobile applications that are not available in your country, such as BNF Publications.

  • However, do not feel disappointed.

iOS Devices

To install apps not available in your country, you can either

Option 1: Create a new Apple ID with a different country or region

  • Sign out of your current Apple ID in the App Store.
  • Create a new Apple ID, selecting the country where the app is available.
Option 2: Change your App Store country or region
  • Open the App Store app and tap on your profile picture.
  • Tap on "Country/Region" and then "Change Country or Region".
  • Select the country where the app is available.
  • Agree to the Terms and Conditions.
  • Enter a valid payment method and billing address from that country.

Android Devices

Apart from the default method (which needs a default payment method for the new country), there are 2 workarounds that I know of to install these region restricted applications.

Option 1: VPN Approach (with Caveats)

  • This method hinges on a Google account free of payment associations (no past purchases).
  • Install a VPN application o mask your location and trick the Google Play Store into believing that you are from a different physical location, such as Windscribe VPN and TunnelBear VPN.
  • After installing the VPN application, close the Google Play Store app and head to phone Settings> Apps> Google Play Store, then tap "Clear the Data".
  • Open the VPN application and connect to the country where the desired application is officially available.
  • Launch the Google Play Store as you normally would. Now, you will land on the desired country Play Store.
  • Once the installation is complete, the mobile application will receive future updates whenever there is newer version provided the Google Account used is linked to the Google Play Store.

Option 2: Sideload an APK file (Risky)

  • This method involves downloading the desired application APK file from APKPure.com or Google Search, followed by manual installation.
  • Sideloading can compromise your device's security and updates for the app are non-existent.
  • Hence, I do not recommend it.
